Who is it for?

You will have previously practiced as a Pharmacist in an EU country and now be registered as practicing on the RPSGB Pharmacist register, but may have little or no experience of UK practice. The course is specifically for candidates who intend to move to the UK or have recently moved here.

Depending on your previous experience, you may be recruited as a Support Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager.

What is the programme?

It is designed to enable you to confidently and competently complete the Duty Pharmacist/Responsible Pharmacist role after eight weeks. Your training is usually carried out in the store you will practice in by a Tutor Pharmacist.

Key elements include:

  • UK Healthcare structure
  • NHS Chemist Contract structure
  • How to complete the Duty Pharmacist Role and operational routines
  • Delivering pharmacy services
  • Counter prescribing
  • Counselling on safe and effective medicine taking and healthy lifestyles
  • CPD (Continuing Professional Development) process.

What will be expected of me?

  • Complete specified reading/learning and specified set piece activities
  • Collate an evidence portfolio to demonstrate activity completion
  • Undergo and pass a formal competency test towards the end of the programme
  • Develop language fluency (where this is necessary)
  • Undergo continuous performance assessment with a weekly review by your tutor and receive/act on feedback throughout programme.

What happens after the programme?

Learn remaining aspects of the Pharmacist role specified in the Morrisons Job Brief. Thereafter, you would continue to develop within your role by setting up a Personal Development Plan, undertaking an agreed CPD to meet business and professional requirements, learn/refresh your knowledge and skills with regard to products and services and improve the depth and breadth of practice experience.
